Who we are

The association Heritage for Peace was founded in Girona, Spain, on March 1 2013 under Catalan law. The association runs its office from Girona: Hotel d’Entitats, Rutlla, 20-22, 17002 Girona,  Catalonia – Spain. In addition to the (Syrian) Chair, Secretary and the Treasurer, there is a General Coordinator, a Point of Contact/Press Officer, and a Funding Coordinator.

In addition to the defined posts, Heritage for Peace is composed of an international network of volunteers. These have included academics, heritage professionals and independent advisers or researchers from Syria, Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States. They are all unpaid experts in either heritage protection in conflict situations or Syrian heritage.

We all work according to our expertise and availability of time. Some of us prefer to remain anonymous and we respect that.
